Childrens Favorite Books Make a Lasting Impression
from:
It is rare to find children who will just pick up a certain childrens book and declare it one of his or her favorite. Most of the time, the childrens favorite books are the result of what their parents have exposed them into. They can also be from outside influences like friends and the media.
That is why it is important that parents should give their children the proper guidance when it comes to choosing the books that children should be into. One of them could become an all-time favorite that children will carry through their adult life.
What can parents do to influence the childrens choice of favorite childrens books?
1. Look for the right childrens books.
From ages 3 to 6, kids are enticed into scanning and reading books that are filled with drawings and illustrations. Since they are not old enough to understand any of the words that is written, they base their choice from these colorful graphics.
From the time parents began reading to them, they would now understand the story behind the pictures. Oftentimes, your children will want to have the same childrens books read over and over again. This is one way of showing what childrens book they consider their favorite.
Notice that once kids have read a certain story, they want other books to have the same kind of stories. This is because at that stage, they already have an idea on what childrens book they like and has become their favorite.
It is also important that parents should also appreciate their childrens favorite books. You will be seeing more of those scattered in your house, so you might as well enjoy it every time you read them to your kids.
Two of the all-time favorite books are Cinderella and Snow White for girls. And Tom Thumb or The Pied Piper for boys. From those childrens favorite books, you can eventually shift to Harry Potter or whatever book that children are reading lately. You can ask your children for other choices and find the time to look for those books.
2. The right place and time for reading.
Once you have their favorite childrens books, the next thing you need to do is find the perfect time and place to read them the books. This is also the same if your children are capable of reading for themselves.
One of the best times for reading your childrens favorite books is before they go to sleep. This is the moment when you yourself are not anymore busy working or doing other things. You now have the time to guide and facilitate how they go about reading their books.
Night time also the best time for your kids because they are already settled to get some sleep and you will not find them running about or playing around the house. These are the times when they are ready for some somber atmosphere convenient for sleep.
Another thing is that your kids can dream about the stories from their favorite books. Since most of them have happy endings, your children will definitely have the sweetest dream every time they think of the story.
Every child has a different concept when they decide on what childrens books will become their favorite. Let them be. Just choose the ones that will enhance their mind and self development. And keep in mind that there is really no arguing with your kids when it comes to their favorite childrens books.
